Steve Wright Improves the Performance of Analysis Services!

Richard and Greg talk to Steve Wright of SQL Sentry about the performance challenges with Analysis Services. Steve talks about how putting SSAS on the same box as SQL Server is not a good idea, how both products are greedy for memory and comparing query tuning techniques. Steve also gets into the performance counters that matter in SSAS.

 

Steve, SQL_Steve on Twitter, is the Director of Engineering Services at SQL Sentry (www.sqlsentry.net), which is located in the suburbs of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is a critical member of the team behind the award winning SQL Sentry Event Manager and Performance Advisor products. Steve directs technical sales support, customer evaluation services, implementation services, and application review/testing for SQL Sentry. He holds MCSD, MCDBA, OCDBA 8i, and IT Project+ certifications.

Prior to joining SQL Sentry in 2005, Steve developed and presented web based training courses for Wachovia Bank. Previous experience includes education positions at Techskills and Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools.

Steve holds a BS degree in Comprehensive Science and Minors in Astrophysics and Classical Studies from Villanova University in Villanova, PA.
