WireShark in 2020 with Laura Chappell

About Show #697

WireShark has evolved - are you using the latest? Richard talks to Laura Chappell about her on-going efforts to teach IT folks more about what is happening in their network and how you can understand and improve it! Since the last time Laura was on the show (ten years ago!) the role of WireShark has changed. Today there are great capture tools for understanding the vast amount of network traffic produced in your organization, and WireShark helps to dissect the interesting bits, both from a security perspective and performance!

Laura Chappell is the Founder of Wireshark University and Chappell University and has been analyzing network traffic for 20 years now (yes, she has grey hairs!). She is a top rated speaker at numerous industry conferences including Microsoft's TechEd conference and various law enforcement conferences. She is a voting member of the IEEE and an active member of the High Technology Crime Investigation Association (HTCIA). In March Laura released the ultimate 800-page book on network analysis using Wireshark and is finalizing the upcoming Wireshark Certified Network Analyst exam for release by end of Q2 2010. She has two teenage kids and can't cook without a fire extinguisher nearby. Her kids are thankful that she can order in. And so is her insurance company.
