Back in Las Vegas and in person, this is the Q&A session from the SQL Server & Azure SQL Conference in December 2021.

Bob Ward, Anna Hoffman, Buck Woody, Bradley Ball, Tim Chapman, Pedro Lopes, and a host of other great SQL speakers fielded questions from an audience of database professionals and developers - and the questions are wide-ranging!

Buck Woody works on the Microsoft Machine Learning and Data Science Team, using data and technology to solve business and science problems. With over thirty years of professional and practical experience in computer technology, he is also a popular speaker at many conferences around the world; the author of over 650 articles and seven books on database and Machine Learning technologies, teaches Database courses and sits on the Data Science Board at the University of Washington, and specializes in data analysis techniques.

Anna Hoffman is a Data & Applied Scientist on the Azure Data team at Microsoft. Anna has a BS in Engineering and MS in Analytics from Georgia Tech. Anna has worked in Microsoft Research, AI Engineering, and Microsoft Services in her time at Microsoft, spending several years working to democratize AI via tools and services like Azure Cognitive Services, Azure Machine Learning, and SQL Server (Machine Learning Services and Big Data Clusters). For the past few years, she is working on the Azure SQL product team and working to enable others with SQL. Anna is one of the authors of Practical Azure SQL Database for Modern Developers, available from Apress Media. Anna is also the host of Data Exposed, available on YouTube. Bob Ward is a Principal Architect for the Microsoft Data Group (Tiger Team) which owns the development and servicing for all SQL Server versions. Bob has worked for Microsoft for 23 years supporting and speaking on every version of SQL Server shipped from OS/2 1.1 to SQL Server 2016. He has worked in customer support as a principal escalation engineer and Chief Technology Officer (CTO) interacting with some of the largest SQL Server deployments in the world. Bob is a well-known speaker on SQL Server often presenting talks on internals and troubleshooting at events such as SQL PASS Summit, SQLBits, SQLIntersection, and Microsoft Ignite.
